About the Blacker the Berry & Greens Garden
Blacker the Berry & Greens Garden is a community garden in the Oak Park neighborhood. BLM Sacramento is growing food and giving it to the community. The goal is to minimize spending money on groceries, for folks struggling to make ends meet. Providing food staples to these homes helps families to put more money toward stability (rent, bills, even the ability to have a savings).
In the long term we want to grow and teach others how to grow their own food. This is sustainability and self reliance. So that we are not beholden to those that capitalize off of us existing. Part of a larger blueprint in our abolition work.
